QUESTION: You said the Kilgore College Surgical Technology program was supposed to get its accreditation in May. I heard it was denied. Can you provide an update?

ANSWER: It was not denied. It did not go before the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs as the college expected in May. (That性视界传媒檚 from both the college and the commission.) Look for that review to take place in June.

性视界传媒淎ll affected students in the Surgical Technology program have been contacted and the situation has been addressed. The program was not denied accreditation in any way. The accreditation decision was just moved, by no fault of Kilgore College, to a later accrediting body board meeting in June,性视界传媒 college spokesman Chris Craddock told me in an email.

性视界传媒淥n May 22, Kilgore College administration had a phone conference with the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA). During this call, ARC apologized for the delay in communication and informed KC of its request for a few pieces of additional information.

性视界传媒淚n response, KC has taken immediate action to provide the requested information. Both ARC and CAAHEP have committed to working closely with the college to expedite KC性视界传媒檚 accreditation application due to the delay in communication. They have agreed to review the final accreditation packet at the June ARC board meeting.性视界传媒

ANSWER LINE THANKS: In May, the News-Journal told readers about Marvin Laywell and his mother, Nellie Jernigan. Marvin was born prematurely in The Philipines and later diagnosed with Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. He was never expected to live past 18, but he turned 50 in May.

The News-Journal asked y性视界传媒檃ll to send him birthday cards to help celebrate this day he was never supposed to have, and, man, y性视界传媒檃ll really showed up. Thank you. His mother told me he received hundreds of cards, and some of y性视界传媒檃ll sent gifts as well.

I wanted to share the thanks they sent in a letter to Answer Line. What y性视界传媒檃ll did meant so much to both of them, and Jernigan said Marvin was 性视界传媒渢he happiest on his birthday.性视界传媒

性视界传媒淎ll the cards and the money he received from people that don性视界传媒檛 know him, people that are are so caring and compassionate 性视界传媒 Marvin and I shed tears while I was reading the messages on the card (each one of them) to Marvin. We were so emotional,性视界传媒 Jernigan said.

She said they never expected the cards and gifts. (And Answer Line does want to say they did not ask for the cards. That was the News-Journal性视界传媒檚 idea because we were so touched by their story.)

She said Marvin wanted to know how to thank y性视界传媒檃ll, and I told her I would pass on their thanks from this letter. (Many of the cards and letters he received, especially the ones with gifts enclosed, had no return address.)

性视界传媒淗e wants to thank them for their kindness,性视界传媒 and for taking time to send him birthday cards, she said. 性视界传媒淗e wants me to name them all, but I guess it is not possible.性视界传媒

Thanks again, East Texas, for loving on Marvin on his birthday.
