QUESTION: Having read the news article about the new Cargo restaurant and entertainment center, my neighbors and I have a question. We live off Hollybrook and are wondering about the noise that might be coming our way when they have concerts in their new outdoor theater.

Will there be limits on noise late in the evening? How late will they be allowed to perform in the evenings? Certainly we expect to be able to hear any noise from that venue as we can currently hear the noise from the Lobo football games, and that stadium is farther away from us. Who will be monitoring the noise levels?

ANSWER: First, a review: Cargo is a two-story restaurant and entertainment center under construction in The Crossing at Main and Main, a development at Loop 281 and U.S. 259. It性视界传媒檚 already home to offices, Yukon Coffee, the retail store and restaurant Jack性视界传媒檚 Natural Foods as well as banking and automotive businesses. Cargo will have an outdoor live music amphitheater, a craft cocktail bar, an 18-hole putting course, pickleball courts, a splash pad and children性视界传媒檚 areas. The business could open in October.

As Development Services Director Michael Shirley explained to me, that area is zoned heavy commercial (a designation that determines what kinds of business may locate in an area). That zoning allows for outdoor activities, including outdoor amplification equipment. There are no specific regulations for someone to monitor noise levels, and there are no specific noise regulations affecting that property.

That zoning also means that any residential area is hundreds or thousands of feet away, which means it性视界传媒檚 not expected to have a direct impact on residential areas, Shirley said. Also, he noted 性视界传媒渢opographical issues性视界传媒 with that land. When Answer Line looked at it, the amphitheater is built at the bottom of a slope, so the land around it will help muffle the sound.

性视界传媒淎 lot of the noise will be taken care of because of site characteristics that will help contain the noise,性视界传媒 Shirley said.

Should there be some kind of 性视界传媒渘oise impact,性视界传媒 the city does have nuisance regulations the might apply, but officials would consider those complaints if they arise.
