QUESTION: I just read the list of Gregg County indictments. Why did it take up to two years to issue these?

ANSWER LINE: I wondered how long it would take someone to about that.

I too saw that the lists of indictments the News-Journal has been publishing this year include charges against some people for incidents that occurred sometimes more than a year ago.

So, I性视界传媒檒l start by saying this, when John Moore took over as district attorney in 2023, he walked into an office that had what he previously described as a 性视界传媒渉uge backlog性视界传媒 of cases. That was because COVID-19 affected courts like it did so much else in the world. A shortage of prosecutors also contributed to that problem. Moore is still dealing with the lasting effects of those issues.

性视界传媒淢ost if not all of the indictments occurring from incidents in 2022, 2023 or later are happening because we have not had the requisite information to proceed, whether it be because of personnel shortages, lab delays or other reasons,性视界传媒 he told me in an email. 性视界传媒淎s you know when I took over this office in 2023, previously stated reasons had backlogged things severely. That caused cases to become backed up in this office in a monumental amount. We continue to attempt to gain control over, not only the old cases, but present current cases as well to the grand jury.性视界传媒
