Forty-three Longview workers will lose their jobs at the end of March when their company性视界传媒檚 contract with Eastman Chemical Co. ends.
S&B Engineers and Constructors, a contractor for Eastman at its plant just outside Longview, is ceasing operations because Eastman officials opted not to renew a contract.
S&B officials notified the Texas Workforce Commission of the impending layoffs Jan. 27. The layoffs will take effect March 28. The company性视界传媒檚 Longview offices are at 814 S. Eastman Road.
S&B Engineers and Constructors is based in Houston and builds industrial facilities.
In a letter to the workforce commission and Longview Mayor Kristen Ishihara, Wendy Coker, S&B性视界传媒檚 vice president of human resources, said the company was notified Jan. 15 that Eastman would not renew the company性视界传媒檚 contract.
In a statement to the News-Journal, Eastman spokeswoman Jennifer Heronema said Eastman periodically reviews its contracts with service providers and requests bids 性视界传媒渢o ensure that our service providers性视界传媒 services and associated costs are competitive in their respective industries.性视界传媒
Eastman began soliciting new bids for engineering contract services at its Longview-area facility last year.
Hargrove Engineers & Constructors will begin providing services March 31 at the local Eastman plant.
