Longview foodies, you性视界传媒檒l eat this news up: Braum性视界传媒檚 Ice Cream & Dairy Stores has submitted initial plans for not one but two Braum性视界传媒檚 locations in Longview.
Talk about bringing home the bacon. (And sausage, eggs, hash browns and hotcakes.)
The News-Journal reported Jan. 31 that Braum性视界传媒檚 was moving forward with plans to build a store at 3069 N. Eastman Road. Longview residents acted like the news was sweeter than a scoop of ice cream.
On Feb. 17, the company applied for a development permit and a development site plan permit to build a store at 280 N. Spur 63, the former home of Casa Ole restaurant next to Kroger.
Braum性视界传媒檚聽bought that property in 2021 and leveled the site a year later. At the time, no building plans were announced.
City Planner Angela Choy confirmed Friday that Braum性视界传媒檚 had applied for the development permit through its subsidiary company, Retail Buildings, Inc. The permits requested are the first steps the company must take to bring its fresh milk, juicy burgers and signature ice cream to town.
Braum性视界传媒檚 spokeswoman Amanda Beuchaw didn性视界传媒檛 immediately return calls Friday requesting comment. No official timeline for construction on either store has been announced, though Beuchaw previously said the company doesn性视界传媒檛 plan to start construction in 2025 on the Eastman Road store.
But don性视界传媒檛 worry. Before too long, Longview will have more Braum性视界传媒檚 food than you can fit in a bag of burgers.
The News-Journal has chronicled the rumors of the store性视界传媒檚 arrival in Longview for years, often fielding questions from readers about its progress.
In 2017, the Longview Planning and Zoning Commission recommended rezoning of a parcel of land near Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center to allow for construction of a Braum性视界传媒檚 store. The company also purchased a piece of land on Loop 281 where the former Liberty Baptist Church was. Braum's later abandoned plans for that property.
Braum性视界传媒檚 operates stores in Tyler, Mount Pleasant and Athens. The Tuttle, Oklahoma-based company has more than 300 locations across Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Missouri and Arkansas.
