A White Oak man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for aggravated child sexual assault.

A jury found Christopher Vargas guilty of a first-degree felony offense of aggravated sexual assault of a child and a second-degree felony offense of indecency with a child, the Gregg County District Attorney性视界传媒檚 Office announced.

Judge Alfonso Charles of the 124th District Court sentenced Vargas on Wednesday.

On multiple occasions, Vargas sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl in 2010 and a 10-year-old girl in 2008, officials with the DA性视界传媒檚 office said in a statement.

性视界传媒淏ecause of the devastating effects his heinous acts had on the children, they did not report his crimes immediately,性视界传媒 officials stated. 性视界传媒淎fter becoming adults, they were bravely able to come forward. Both survivors gave emotional impact statements following Vargas性视界传媒 sentencing.性视界传媒

Officials with the DA性视界传媒檚 office thanked investigator Ferris Ellis with the White Oak Police Department and Christie Glenn-Moore, director of the Martin House Children性视界传媒檚 Advocacy Center, for their assistance in the case.

性视界传媒淲e would also like to acknowledge the courage and bravery of the two survivors in these cases,性视界传媒 officials said.
