Veterans of the Vietnam War as well as other eras were honored Saturday during the Longview High School ChoirÐÔÊӽ紫ý™s 50th Welcome Home Festival and Ceremony for Vietnam Veterans.
The event at Longview High School, which also served as a fundraiser for the choir, included performances as well as food and drinks.
Vietnam veterans also were presented medals during a ceremony.
March 29 was National Vietnam War Veterans Day ÐÔÊӽ紫ý” the day the last U.S. troops left Vietnam in 1973. The war officially ended in April 1975.
The choir originally was scheduled to represent Texas during the National Vietnam Veterans Day Parade in Honolulu, but parents canceled the trip because of safety concerns about U.S. air travel.
The choir decided to honor vets locally with SaturdayÐÔÊӽ紫ý™s event at the school.
