KILGORE ÐÔÊӽ紫ý” Kayson Brooks accounted for six touchdowns as Kilgore took a 42-21 win over Lindale in District 9-4A Division I action Friday night at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium.

Brooks had touchdown passes of 70, 5, 13, 12 and 30 yards and then broke free for a 63-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. He finished 14 of 15 for 245 yards and carried the ball seven times for 60 yards.

After a quick three-and-out from Lindale, Kilgore scored on its first offensive play of the night as Brooks connected with Javon Towns for a 70-yard score. With 10:08 on the clock. The Eagles answered with a 9-yard touchdown run by AÐÔÊӽ紫ý™Million Johnson to tie the score at 7-7 with 5:50 left in the first quarter.

Brooks threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Rayshawn Williams with 3:22 on the clock to go up 14-7. The Bulldogs added to their lead on the second play of the second quarter on a 13-yard scoring pass from Brooks to LaKeyleon Graves to go up 21-7.

That score stood at halftime as Seth BaggettÐÔÊӽ紫ý™s 45-yard field goal attempt on the final play of the half was blocked by Graves.

The Bulldogs needed just more than a minute to score in the second half as Brooks found Michigan commit Jayden Sanders for a 12-yard touchdown.

On the next drive, DreÐÔÊӽ紫ý™ Sanders got an interception for Kilgore. Lindale then got a strip sack from Matthew Kenney, and Hayden Nations recovered for the Eagles. Kilgore got a fourth-down stop, and Brooks found Towns with 32 seconds left in the third quarter to go up 35-7.

Lindale kept fighting and used a 10-play, 64-yard drive to score on a 1-yard run by Chad Ward to cut the score to 42-14 with 5:35 to play. Two 15-yard penalties on Kilgore set the Eagles up at the Bulldog 30 for the kickoff. Lindale didnÐÔÊӽ紫ý™t recover the onside kick but got a defensive stop, and a bobbled snap on the punt was recovered by Lincoln Laing in the end zone with 3:04 to play for a Lindale touchdown to trim the score to 42-21.

Kilgore recovered the onside kick and punted with 34 seconds left. The Eagles ran one play to run out the clock.

The Bulldogs finished with 398 total yards. Williams had 18 carries for 98 yards, and Towns had six receptions for 127 yards.

The Eagles had 223 yards, including 97 passing yards from three different quarterbacks ÐÔÊӽ紫ý” David Lindig, Jackson LeGrow and Caleb Hart. Hart led the way with 69 yards rushing on 12 carries. Reed Carnathan made four catches for 74 yards.

Lindale (3-4, 1-2) will host Mabank for homecoming on Oct. 25. Kilgore (6-2, 3-1) will play at Palestine on Oct. 25.
