QUESTION: What can you tell us about this watch with 性视界传媒 imprinted on its face? We found it amongst the belongings of a local jeweler who has passed away. It looks almost new, no engraving.

ANSWER: I called on some of our former employees and their families to help me with this. I don性视界传媒檛 have one piece of information that clearly explains how these watches came about and why, but they were used as a promotional item in several different ways. (A couple of the people I contacted still have a watch but don性视界传媒檛 remember the specific circumstance that led the newspaper to issue them.)

Here性视界传媒檚 what I know: Former News-Journal Publisher Retta Van Auken 性视界传媒 Retta Kelley when she was publisher 性视界传媒 said those kinds of watches were used by a number of organizations in the 1980s for promotional purposes.

It性视界传媒檚 possible the watches might have been used by the News-Journal around that time as promotional material to celebrate the organization性视界传媒檚 move into its 性视界传媒渘ew building性视界传媒 性视界传媒 the three-story red brick building at 320 E. I found a newspaper from Dec. 22, 1987, that included a self-published advertisement that featured promotional items as part of the newspaper性视界传媒檚 性视界传媒淲e性视界传媒檙e feeling great about Longview性视界传媒 campaign. The add featured this watch, which could be purchased for $18.95; a T-shirt that sold for $8.95 and included the words 性视界传媒淲e性视界传媒檙e feeling great about Longview,性视界传媒 and an umbrella for $8.95. I should also note the ad was in a 性视界传媒渓ast minute gift guide.性视界传媒

I also found advertisements in other editions of the paper in which the watches were given as prizes in photo contests the newspaper sponsored.
