South Broadway Avenue in Tyler is no longer included on an annual list of the state性视界传媒檚 100 most congested roads.
In the most recent Top 100 Congested Roadways in Texas, the Tyler road came in at 102.
性视界传媒淚t性视界传媒檚 a milestone, and it性视界传媒檚 an opportunity to step back and recognize the efforts we性视界传媒檝e made,性视界传媒 Tyler Traffic Engineer Cameron Williams said. 性视界传媒淣ot being on that list is a pretty big deal, but we also recognize that there性视界传媒檚 still congestion, there性视界传媒檚 still frustration and there性视界传媒檚 still a lot of work to do.性视界传媒
The list of the 100 most congested roads was established by the Texas Legislature in 2009, requiring the Texas Department of Transportation to measure and track traffic congestion. Based on 2023 traffic data, South Broadway Avenue ranked 102nd, down from 87th in 2022 and 47th in 2021.
While it may not seem like a huge jump, getting off the Top 100 list is a significant achievement, Williams said. It underscores the efforts and investments the city has made in improving traffic flow.
Since 2021, the city of Tyler has implemented a new central system to monitor traffic signals, updated controllers for more consistency and introduced new detection systems on South Broadway to replace older, outdated technology. In addition, the traffic corridor was re-timed.
To maintain and further improve traffic flow on South Broadway, the city of Tyler plans to continue refining the signal timing.
