Six area students were named recipients of the Daughters of the American Revolution性视界传媒檚 Good Citizen Award during a ceremony and reception at the Longview Public Library on March 4.

Ava Claire Riley of Longview High School was the local winner of the organization性视界传媒檚 scholarship essay contest. Riley was recognized alongside fellow essay contest participants Haley Cecilie Lybarger of Spring Hill High School, Barbara Villagran Morales of Pine Tree High School, Katherine Grace Dusek of White Oak High School and Channing Reece Muller of New Diana High School.

Sponsored by the Aaron Burleson chapter of the D.A.R., the scholarship program is for area high school seniors who are recommended by school administrators. Students can participate in the Texas competition consisting of a timed essay written under faculty supervision from acquired knowledge about a specific topic.

This year性视界传媒檚 subject was 性视界传媒淥ur American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It.性视界传媒 The essay counted for 30% of the student性视界传媒檚 score, with school and community activities accounting for the other portion.

Riley性视界传媒檚 information and essay were sent to the Texas D.A.R. Good Citizen Contest to be judged on the state level. Riley and the participating students were given Good Citizen pins, certificates and scholarship money.
